We were painting wet on wet, so we soaked our paper in the bog.
And then we painted.
The ice crystals the kids pulled from the water seemed to play an important part in our day. Two of my boys wrote their haiku about the ice sounds and the other one made sure to stand on an ice burg out in the bog. (You can see what a concerned parent I was. Imagine these words, "Oh! Honey! That makes me nervous, please come off that ice- but first stand still so I can take your picture." Nice parenting moment there.)
Next we composed Haikus. I love Amanda's.
Here is YoungSon3's
Duck pops out of water
Duck in the water.
Later in the evening, he wrote a second one when he learned he was supposed to have three lines (I'm not worrying about 5-7-5 syllables with my four year old).
Duck
swim in water
fly in air
walk on land
The bog inspires such beauty.
YoungSon1 of course felt that before he could compose a haiku, he must be inspired by the bog close up, so he went surcharging for his inspiration in the kayak.
Next we played a "who am I" game. Each of us received a card with information about a plant or animal and others asked us yes or no questions. YoungSon3 was a Grebe. Mamaroot helped the little guys out.
The really little guy had a nice place on his mama's back to take the whole day in.
And I just love that while these Big Little Guys asked questions of the others, they stood here together. Hugging.
When it was just about time to go, more frogs were caught.
And eggs.
This one made a journey up the hill to Tobin's pond with her eggs in a jar.
And what better way to wrap up a hot day than ice cream from the general store?
what a lovely day it was! I love your blog and it is so fun for my little guys to see themselves on it!
